Green Bottle Fly - Lucilia sericata - also known as La mouche verte (French), Die Goldfliege (German), De groene vleesvlieg (Dutch).
Whorled Tickseed - Coreopsis verticillata - also known as Coreopsis Moonbeam.
I’ve never had a flower attract so many flies. Nearly every bloom has a fly sitting on it just like in the photo (this is probably why I have three mantids living in the coreopsis, too).
Photo taken with the Canon Digital Rebel XT / 350D and a Sigma 70-300mm Lens on July 4, 2008, in Davenport, Iowa.
Hey, Moe, I wanted to do a quick drop by to once again thank you for giving me all the wonderful views. I’ve passed on a blog award to you.
BTW, have you seen any spindle spiders this spring or summer? I usually have some that take up residence in my peonies, but I haven’t seen any this year. It’s kinda sad.
Moe - I have a bird question, but I’m not seeing an email link for you. Would you kindly contact me through my email? Sorry about using your comment section this way. Uh…nice housefly. LOL
